Performing arts gives me that special something that no other outlet can give me. Once bitten by the stage bug you are never the same. I'm inspired by Perle Noir, Sammich the Tramp, Gin Minsky, Shirely MacLaine, and Ru Paul.

When I was 4 years old I started dancing at a local dance academy. Every year my dance teacher would have an annual recital. It was a huge spectacle on a real stage. My dance teacher would do the first number and introduce her students. My teacher Miss Patti Owens had the most lavish costumes and I vowed to be her someday. I saw burlesque as my homage to her grand performances and I miss her dearly.

Tear Heartstring

Tear Heartstring

Growing up I was a big fan of musicals, dazzled by the costumes, rhinestones and choreography. I loved to dance, not anything special, but just letting my body move to the music. Later, I took belly dancing classes and when I moved to Seattle, I became a student of Miss Indigo Blue's Academy of Burlesque. It was inevitable really! The glitter, the moves, the sheer pleasure of wowing a captive audience really gives me joy. Embracing my body and inviting others to share in body love.

"I have been performing in various capacities since I was four years old. I got my first professional performing job at the age of 15, and now have 30 years of professional theater experience, under my belt. As well as continuing to perform, variety acts, and burlesque, I am a professional costumer. I have worked for the Kansas City Repertory Theater since 1995, in the costume shop. I also have done free-lance work for most of the other professional theaters in Kansas City & other cities.

I suppose I was bitten by the "bug" when I was a little girl...around 5 or 6. My Grandma Coulter would tell me stories of being a showgirl with the Greenwich Village Follies in her youth, and, even later when she ended up in a wheel chair, nothing would keep her from getting on the dancefloor and swaying to the music. When I became much older, after going through my theatre arts phase, I began looking for ways to express myself on stage that was different from what one might "expect" to see.

I have been dancing since age 5. I am a classically trained ballerina who branched out in to all types of performance and dance, now Burlesque! I am inspired by the wonderful women fo the Bat City Bombshells in Austin. We are a true sisterhood and I love them all dearly.

Goldle Goldstein, Showcase

Since 2010, Kansas City's very own Goldie Goldstein has combined 'flourish,' 'fetish,' and 'flamboyantly funny' to deliver her distinct style of off-the-wall hilarity. Dubbed "The Phyllis Diller of Burlesque," clever Goldie hasn't met a song yet that she couldn't satirize and sodomize with her madcap antics.

I grew up in a theater household. My father is a local actor, so theater was always emphasized in my home rather than sports. I became involved with theater and dance at an early age and as an adult I trained in burlesque under Kitten deVille in Los Angeles. I am inspired by current classic performers such as Kitten and Orchid Mei as well as neo performers like Iva Handfull and Midnight Martini, whose ideas are consistently new and innovative.

Beatnic Betty

Beatnic Betty

Four years ago, I had a venue owner in Fort Smith who believed in me. From that, I started producing and emceeing my own variety shows. Through several different friends, I was introduced to burlesque. Inspired by such classy dames as Dita Von Teese, Dirty Martini, and Talloolah Love, I jumped headfirst into the glitter covered world that seemed to inspire confidence in everyone.

Sherry Bomb

I am a performer/producer for the Bat City Bombshells in Austin Texas, and really the troupe is a continuing inspiration for me, it would be hard for me to continue getting on stage without their energy. I truly look up to Coco Lectric, who I have had the honor of not only sharing the stage with, but also taking private classes, and creating custom costumes for. I just love to get on stage with a routine and costume that is all my own. Oh yeah, and rhinestones, I love rhinestones :)

Honey Sin Claire

I'm a performing artist for a living, with a musical theater background,..I was born to be performing. The creativity and expression of Burlesque has allowed me to be myself, with more glitter, and that's inspiring. I like the ability to portray a character, to live through a song, or a move, even a glance.

Serendipity Love

Serendipity Love

I began taking burlesque and belly dance classes as a way to meet new people and potential friends who share a love for these performing arts. My husband is in the military and we have to move a lot, and belonging to the belly dance/burlesque community makes it easier to make new friends no matter where I go.
